A Must Needed Update!

It's been what seems like an eternity since I've even looked at the computer screen! It's not that I've been sick and couldn't...I just haven't. The morning sickness is pretty much all gone. I did find the source of my problem to be my prenatal vitamins, so I have stopped taking them and replaced it with a multivitamin which was okayed by my doctor. Ever since then the sickness has been pretty much at a minimum.

As my little counter shows, I am now 11 weeks and 1 day pregnant. It's so hard to believe that I am already almost out of my first trimester, I didn't realize how quickly it would come. The doctor says the baby and I are healthy...they do have one concern that I might be coming down with a UTI, but the reason they gave was protein in my urine. After talking to my Aunt who works at a kidney specialist office and she talked to one of the doctors there and he said that I am too early in my pregnancy to be showing that much protein. He said that either they saw bacteria in the urine and that is why they suspect a UTI, or my kidneys aren't filtering out the protein like they should and I need to go see a kidney specialist. I've called my doctor 3 days ago and am STILL waiting to hear back from them so they can answer some of my questions. I will be making yet another phone call today and if I still get no response, we might be taking a drive to see my doctor!

Thanks yet again to everyone who gave me advice on the morning sickness! I really appreciate it!

Pressure your doctor for answers. I am praying for you. It is probably nothing but still. You pay him to take care of you and your child.

Good to hear you're doing well, Kristina, I was worried about you! I can't believe you're almost to your second trimester--how time flies. Have you thought about whether or not you'll find out the gender of the baby or will it be a surprise? I will keep you in my prayers regarding your kidneys--hopefully it's nothing and will disappear on its on. The Lord be with you and Joshua and the baby,
Patricia

It's not too early to see protein in your urine, and pre-eclampsia CAN begin very early in pregnancy. Yes, this early. Is your blood pressure okay? No swelling in your feet/ankles? If all of that is okay, then I'm just a worrier and you should ask them to do a urine culture. In the meantime, lots of fluids to help flush things through if it's a UTI.

Glad to hear you, Josh & the baby are doing well! I sincerely hope you don't have a UTI or kidney issues. I've had UTIs twice in my life and I think that the most miserable I have ever been - it was even worse than when I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. Take care & I hope that your doctor calls you back & that the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!

Glad you noted the connection between the pre-nats and morning sickness. I was given the tip to take mine at bedtime vs. in the morning. It worked like a charm for me with each of my pregnancies. Keep it in mind if the ookies come back.

Glad to see you posting again. I'd checked in several times hoping for an update to no avail.

Happy gestating and God bless!

So glad that you are alive and well! Enjoy it, as it will be your only pregnancy without caring for another child at the same time. You can nap now, any time you want! Yeah!

I agree with Sunny I had Pre-e/HELLP Syndrome so protein in the urine..yikes.

Keep a check on your blood pressure and make sure your doctor is taking everything seriously. Let him know if you have swelling, see spots, headaches or high blood pressure.

~prayers for healthy pregnancy~

God bless

Wow... protein in the urine already? I had severe pre-eclampsia at the end of my pregnancy, and it all started with severe swelling in the ankles right around the beginning of my 2nd trimester. I didn't have the high blood pressure or protein in the urine yet, though.

Just be careful... do exactly what your doctor or midwife tells you. If they give you any specific diet instructions, follow them. The mistake I made is that I didn't take it very seriously when my midwife told me I was at risk for pre-eclampsia. I thought because I felt fine, I must be fine.
