Absent Again!

I know...I know...I vanished again. But there has been a WHOLE lot going on! On the 16th we had my Dad's surprise 40th Birthday party, and that was a blast! There were so many people in my grandparents house, we could barely move. Then on the 22nd we had Ronnie and Jessica over for cake and ice cream for Michelle's 18th. Then the 23rd was Michelle's 18th birthday and the day that she moved out of the home. She is already doing things that she knows is wrong. Please pray for her, she really needs it. And please pray for my parents, this is hard on them. Just please pray for our family, we are going through some tough times. Thanks to all of you who have been, it is greatly appreciated!

Discouragement

I have been going through a bout of discouragement for the past couple of weeks, but God has put some very special people in my life to help me. Sunday night someone told me just the right thing that REALLY helped me, and then I read some very encouraging posts both yesterday and today. I just wanted to get on here and tell everyone how good God is!! Isn't He just wonderful?!

Our Pastor preached a message Sunday night on "Sticking With God". As most of you know, we are going through something with my sister right now, and that has put a huge toll on our family. Because of what we have been going through I have gotten discouraged and behind in my relationship with the Lord. I had been very hurt because of what my sister is going to be doing in the next couple of weeks. But I realized Sunday night that I had to give what we were going through over to God and let Him work...not me! I was trying to tell my sister what she needed to do, and I was not letting God have the situation.

I just want to thank everyone who blogs. I get so much encouragement from reading your sites, and I know that a lot of others get the same encouragement!! So thank you to all of you!

Our First Sunday At Our New Church.

Yesterday was awesome! I absolutely love my Sunday school class, the teaching, I love the preaching that we received and the singing! Yesterday was just wonderful! We got to join yesterday morning, so now we are official members of Harvest Baptist Tabernacle. I have never shook so many hands in all my life...there were about 300 to 400 people there...that's a whole lot of hand shaking!! :o)

I am so glad that God put us in such a wonderful church! The people are so sweet and as I have already said the preaching is awesome.

Daddy was not able to be at the service last night, he decided to let Michelle and I stay so that we could be at our new home church while he went to a meeting at another church. We are a little over 10% of our support! We are so excited!! We can see that God is working, and we are so thankful.

I do have a very, very special unspoken, it is something that has been heavy on my heart and I know that y'all will help me pray. I can't go into it right now, I just need y'all to help me pray for someone.

When We Were Kids

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants &children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because,

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were OK.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!
