Still Waiting On Her Arrival

I will be 38 weeks on Sunday the 5th and I am SO anxious to meet my precious little girl! The dr has given me clearance to try and naturally induce labor if I decided to...and I have been trying anything that I can to do just that. I have gone through almost a whole fresh pineapple trying! I plan to try a cup of red raspberry leaf tea this evening as well. Right now I am feeling LOADS of pressure and some pretty intense tightening of my uterus, nothing really painful though. I'm just waiting on those strong contractions that are 5 minutes apart and last for more than an hour!!! ;o)

I thought my water broke 2 days ago, but it turned out to be a false alarm. I will make sure that I post when our little Kloe arrives. The laptops will be going with us to the hospital and I will be sure to post when I get the chance. In the meantime, please pray that all goes well when I do go into labor and delivery.

  1. I found walking was good to help start labor. My stepdad told me to drink castor oil....like lube it up or something and the baby would slide out...Nah, not me.

I hope you have a safe labor and a beautiful baby girl at the end of it.

Remember the pain will pass. Breathe normally and just follow your partners instructions.

    Good luck! God Bless.

  2. Evening primrose oil taken orally and internally is a great way to prepare your cervix. There's a lot online about it. I can't say that it worked for sure, but I used it with both of my deliveries beginning about a week prior and things went very smoothly; very quickly.
    Good luck to you all!!

  3. My grandmum swore by the castor oil, too! Oh, it tastes so awful! (I'd get it growing up--worse than soap to the mouth and it wasn't even (supposed to be) a punishment!

Just relax and take it easy, Kloe will come when God decides--you've done such a good job as a mom-to-be that she doesn't want to make her way to the exit!

We'll be praying for a safe delivery and a happy and healthy Kloe and Mom. (And Daddy, too.)

A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. John 16:21

May the Lord be with You, Mommy and Daddy and Kloe!

  10. Castor oil DOES work, but the taste...ugh!

My friend had a spicy meal and a little lovin' with her hubby to get things started, so to speak. If that's a no-go because it's uncomfortable, there is a pressure point three finger widths above your inside ankle bone. Apply firm pressure for 30 seconds and release. Repeat every few minutes or so. It's supposed to speed things up during active labor as well.

Stay comfortable and post pictures when little miss makes her debut. :)

  11. Hi Kristina,
Do remember if your water already broke you and your baby are more prone to infection, so take loads of vit-C to fight it :-)
Praying for a smooth and safe delivery!

  12. Ever since you told me about the pineapple I've been doing some reading up on all that. Very interesting stuff out there!!!! Wish I had known about it all when I was pregnant. Eight days past due with Justin and I was really ready to do something. LOL

  13. I periodically read your blog from time to time and this is my first time commenting. :-)
Good ways to make baby come quicker (ie methods my midwife gave me)

    walking-
bouncing on one of those big exercise balls - sit on it and gently bounce up and down
the rasberry leaf tea is not going to induce you BUT it will help your contractions be more efficient when the time does come. My midwife suggested a cup a day at least. It tastes better if its iced or if you brew regular tea and the rasberry leaf tea together.
Castor oil is one of those "old wive's" cures, it won't put you into labor until your body is ready itself and can have some NASTY side effects. (loose b.m.s and stomach cramps which you REALLY don't need if you do go into labor!!!!)
There's an herbal supplement, perfectly safe called "evening primrose oil" that you can take as well.

out of all of these, the walking helped me the best. I was in labor for a long time though and had a lot of premature "false" labor which was a pain in the you know where.

I hope your labor is QUICK and as painless as labors can be!!! And I hope that you find mamahood as wonderful as I find it!!!

  14. Hey, Kristina! Only days to go! (Or maybe it's happened already...)
This is the first time I've commented here, but we've "met" at FJ. Just wanted to wish you the best!

As far as suggestions for inducing labour: well, my one and only labour/birthing experience involved waiting until the due date and then going out for lunch with mom and mom's friend (who at that point had 16 grandchildren, so I thought she'd be a good influence).

It worked -- a few hours later, I was watching the evening news, and I had the first contraction.

Can't wait to hear about your little darling's safe arrival!

  15. Listen to what your body needs during labor. If you feel the desire to squat, get on your knees, walk around, whatever. Follow your instincts. If you reach a point where you feel you can't go on or feel like giving up that is called transition and it means you are very close to the end. After the birth DO NOT let the doctor or anyone else pull on the cord as this can cause hemorrhaging. Keep the baby close to you and breastfeed her frequently. Enjoy your birth and your new baby!
