I just wanted to get on here and thank everyone who gave me some advice for the morning sickness or rather my ALL DAY sickness! I have invested in loads of Ginger-Ale and saltine crackers. They have helped a lot! I also have someone that is going to give me some sea bands they had from a previous pregnancy. I'm really hoping those will work out for me as well.
The crackers and ginger-ale take the edge off the sickness in the morning and then as long as I keep a little something on my stomach throughout the day I tend to do okay. I do know that as long as I am feeling this sick that means everything is going good...so I try to remember that each and every day and thank God for it! Sounds odd, yes...but as long as I have the sickie feeling that means God has blessed me with a healthy pregnancy thus far.
I've had some ask what Josh thinks about all this. He is completely THRILLED! I've never seen a man so excited and thrilled about having a baby. He has been wonderful through my "all day" sickness. He is more than willing to get me what I need, do the dishes and laundry, and even tries to cook for me! I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful husband!!!
I'm so glad Josh is excited and being supportive. Many women aren't lucky enough to have a husband who understands just how difficult it is to do simple every day tasks when coping with a bad bout of "morning" sickness.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found something that helps!
ReplyDeleteYes you do have a wonderful husband!!! I hope he doesn't get burned out from it all and get resentful about it. I don't think he will but if he does....he is only human...LOL!! I'm so excited for you and Josh and can't wait to get to spend time with this grandchild. I will get to spend more time with him/her than I get to with Candyce and that will be wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you both and if you need anything I'm only a phone call away!!!
Momma
Glad my advice was helpful to you. I'm a nursing student who is studying maternal-fetal development this semester, so the teachable moment was great practice for me. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a very kind, supportive hubby at your side through this. Thumbs up for Josh. :)
I hope you continue doing well! Pregnancy is such an exciting time. Just be careful and don't let yourself get dehydrated- really, really bad morning sickness is called hyperemesis gravidarum and needs to be taken very seriously. I was hospitalized several times, was in the ER constantly to be rehydrated, and was on medication because I couldn't keep down any fluids- at my worst, I was barely 100 pounds (and I'm 5'8", so that was NOT a healthy weight!). I went on to deliver a perfectly healthy baby boy who is now seven years old, but man, the pregnancy was ROUGH.
ReplyDeleteOne tip I learned late in pregnancy is to hold on to something cold- an ice-cold soda can, a can of frozen orange juice, etc (do NOT drink the OJ afterwards, lol). Keep holding it til your hands feel like they're going to freeze off, and your nausea may lessen. This is apparently a trick used by nurses who work on helicopters, transporting patients. :) It stopped me from being ill in a craft store. :)
Keep the lines of communication open with your doctor, don't hesitate to call them if you feel really bad or you're vomiting a lot. Morning sickness is very real and can have serious consequences if you get dehydrated (for the record, I was hospitalized immediately after my 6 week appointment, because I was dangerously dehydrated). I hope you're feeling better soon, and congratulations again!
Try vitamin B6 for the morning sickness.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Kristina!
ReplyDeletePregnancy can seem to put you in a time warp- time can move sooooo slowly when you're counting down the weeks to your next doctor appointment and a single day of morning sickness can feel like it's lasting a whole week. It's weird that way. I think every new mom has this experience. Take heart though; once the baby arrives, then time will speed up once again, and you won't know what happened to your little newborn who is now starting kindergarten!
Preggie Pops were a lifesaver for me. The suckers, particularly the ginger one, were great, but having the drops to pop whenever I was a little queay made it possible to function. You can find them online and you can also buy them at Babies R Us or Motherhood Maternity.
ReplyDeleteI was just referred to your blog today. I wish you a happy and healthy nine months, and a healthy and blessed child.
Sorry this has nothing to do with your post...but I was curious on your 6 inch rule you had before you got married. I know at all weddings I have been to the couple holds hands during the ceremony but they are not actually husband and wife yet. Did y'all do that? (sorry again that it doesnt relate to this post!)
ReplyDeleteHello! I have a pretty weird story here, and I couldn't find a way to email you directly...
ReplyDeleteMy family and I sing, and my dad wanted me to work on organizing our music notebook today. I searched for the words to "That's My Child" (one of the songs we sing and needed the words printed) and found your blog! The first thing that jumped out at me was the fact that you believe the KJB, and then the fact that you say keeper AT home. I have been discussing this very subject with some people online over the past few days, and they don't really care what the Bible says about it, apparently! Anyway, it was GREAT to read you profile and see someone that really does believe the Bible, and who puts the emphasis in all the right places!
After I realized that you were like me, I hung around your blog for a while, and, being a single, almost 21 year old, I just HAD to read all about your courtship! I and my mom both were REALLY impressed! As I scrolled down the page, I saw the pitures of y'all at Ryans. I though "hey that looks familiar.." THEN, I saw the picture of Bro. Jim Veitch! WOW!!! We know them!!! See, 2 years ago, my family and I moved here to KY from Zebulon, GA! My dad pastored there, and we'd been to Bro. Veitch's church several times! My mom says that he will know who we are by name...we're the Custer family.
Anyway, I just HAD to tell you all of this...I was sooo very excited!
I do apologize for the length! If you would like to email me, my email is fiddlegirl89@gmail.com. We also have a website.. www.custerfamilyfarm.com.
A note of encouragement: I was ridiculously sick while pregnant with my daughter (who's almost 16-months now!). I vomitted all day long, had pain, etc.,etc. for the ENTIRE pregnancy. This was on top of working full time as my husband wasn't able to get a job (a whole different story)! It was pretty hard, but the birthing was VERY easy...
ReplyDeleteand now I'm 22 weeks pregnant with our next little one, and this has been a really EASY pregnancy!
So be encouraged--all of your pregnancies may not be like this. :-)

Hey hope you're feeling better by the time you read this! NOTHING helped me when I had "all day sickness" so I feel your pain. I really hope it's over soon and you get to fully enjoy your pregnancy...second trimester is the best. =)
ReplyDeleteDrink ginger ale that has REAL ginger in it. The other kind has ginger flavoring that is not the same thing and does not work.
ReplyDeleteCheck out any of these ginger candies! they may help!....and they're pretty delicious too!

Hi Kristina,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had "all-day" sickness with her pregnancy in the first four months. If it's any consolation, she was much better the last three months or so, and she now has a happy and healthy 6-month-old and feels great! So, hang in there. :)
One thing she learned was she absolutely could NOT let her tummy get empty. She had to eat - more like graze - on healthy foods all day and even keep food next to her bed. If she let herself get hungry, it was like a vicious cycle, she would get sick, feeling like she couldn't eat anything, and then when she tried to eat something, she threw up. She also could only handle a small amount each time she ate, because eating too much at one time would make her sick. She actually lost weight during the first trimester, and she was already small to begin with!
I hope you are feeling better soon and congratulations on your pregnancy!
it's been a while since you posted, hope you're feeling better!
