The 24th = One Month

I didn't get to post this on Saturday because I had a pretty busy day, but Josh and I have been courting for a month now! I still can't hardly believe that I am courting and that God has sent me such a wonderful man. Josh and I still find ourselves just saying "WOW" at what God has done already. This past month has been wonderful!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and have enjoyed spending time with and getting to know all I can about Josh. Both Josh and I can't thank God enough for bringing the two of us together...we are definitely a "match made in Heaven" as Momma put it.

The courtship is going wonderfully, I get to see Josh about 2 to 3 times a week...sometimes more if he decides to surprise me by showing up at our church on a Sunday night. I have a ton of pictures that I need to post, I just haven't done it yet! I will though...one day!!! LOL I PROMISE!

  1. New reader :) What is courting? Is is the same as dating? Are you already engaged to him?

No, we aren't "officially" engaged, but with courtship you go into the relationship knowing that this is the person that you will marry. So, we know that we are getting married...I just don't have a ring to prove it...yet!! :o)

    Thanks for stopping by!!!

  3. Hi Kristina,

I've read many articles about courtship but I thought the purpose was to spend the time discerning if it was God's will for you to get married. So I'm a bit confused by your reply above.

I hope I do not sound offensive (I'm just curious) but what if someone was courting and things did not seem to be falling into place with the partner - for example, major personality clashes, no attraction, etc? I'm not talking about shallow reasons, like he's too serious or she's chews too loudly but about real obstacles that you can't seem to get past. Despite one's prayers and reflections beforehand, how can you really know if someone is the right spouse for you without spending significant amounts of time getting to know each other? But your statement above made it sound as though marriage is inevitable once one starts courting.

I apologize if I am misunderstanding you and I really hope I do not come across as offensive - that is totally not my intent. Thank you!

  4. Melissa,

You did not come across offensive at all.

I have had friends that have gone into a courtship and things did not work out. Some people don't have the same beliefs or standards for courtship as we have. Us personally pray about it until we have complete and total peace from both sets of parents and until the two individuals involved have complete peace about it. As far as how to know it is God's will...I can't really describe it, I just have such a peace that Josh is the one that I am to marry. Like I said, I don't know how to describe it. But God is not going to give you peace about someone that you aren't going to be able to get along with. If it is God's will, it will be right!!!

We believe that the courtship period is the time to get to know one another. With us, you do not enter into a courtship unless you KNOW that this the the person you are to marry.

I hope I answered all your questions and that I was able to help. Thanks for coming by!!!

I remember back when my husband and I met, etc...it was such a wonderful feeling! We are closer now (10 years later) then even then...we have settled into life, but the joy you have when you are with the one the Lord truly meant for you.

So happy the Lord is working in your life!!

  7. Kristina,

Thanks for the response - it actually made a lot of sense. You're right, when something is God's will, things have a way of falling into place.

Best wishes to you in your courtship! You two look so cute and very happy together. : )
